EVERYDAY LIFE IN THE CAMP

Every morning starts with the breakfast at 8 in the morning. After breakfast we have the "Morning Circle" to say Good Morning to each member of the camp in his or her mother tongue.

After the circle the campers can sign up to two different sessions. The sessions take place before lunch. The first session starts at 9 in the morning, the second at quarter to eleven. Campers can choose between the following activities during the morning sessions: Baseball, Drama, Volleyball, Tabletennis, Dance, Arts and Crafts, Trust games, Soccer, Juggling, Journalism.

After the morning activities we have lunch between 12 and 1.

Between 1:30 and 3:30 PM the campers have english lessons in groups of mixed nationalities.

At 3:30 the campers have a snack with their teams and from 4 PM it is beachtime.

The dinner starts at 6 PM and from  7 or 7:30 we have different kinds of evening activities. Around 10 PM we say good night to each other in the morning circle and everybody goes to sleep.

MORNING SESSIONS

Football

August 4th we had a football activity. We were in two teams and we were four girls and we had a really great time. Our final match was 5 - 5. It was very much fun but we got tired. After we finished soccer we had other activities. Our teams' names were Tolerance team Football (TTF) and Killers. Out goalkeepers were Gabriel and Enghin.

I also had a goal. :)

Dance

August 4th after the usual morning circle we continued the day with different activities. Many of us chose to go to the Dance session. We were learning Jive and Waltzer. Later we were divided into two groups. The first group was formed by the ones who needed more practice to learn the basic steps. The second group was formed by the ones who already learned to dance. We also watched a video about a dance competition that took place in the USA. So we also saw how Jive should be danced properly. :) However we were practicing only the basic steps, it was really tiring. The Waltzer was a bit easier. We learned the basic steps and the turns. Because of the lack of boys some girls had to learn the steps of the boys, but it was even more funny like this.

EVENING PROGRAMS

Casino Night

In the evening on the 1st of August we had a Casino night. It was great. The games were: Uno, Flour tower, Poker, Twister, Morocco, Jenga, Paper planes. The games were very funny.

  • Uno: It was a game with cards. Mari explained this to us, and it was very fun.
  • Flour tower: This game was so much fun too, because we had a tower made of lfour and a little paper on it, and we had to cut it with a knife. The loser had to pick up the paper with his mouth.
  • Poker: The game was to play poker with cards, and the winner got three points in his folder.
  • Twister: This was a great game. We had to put our hands and legs on different colors, and the first to touch the floor with his knee or elbow was the loser.
  • Morocco: Morocco was a game with sticks and if we touched the other sticks we lost.
  • Jenga: We have to pull wooden blocks out of the structure and put them back on top of it. When the tower collapses, the one who caused it looses.
  • Paper planes: It's a game with paper planes. So we had to make planes with paper and we had a competition with each other. The person whose plane flew the furthest was the winner.

Robi also made us Mocktails. He mixed juices with each other and then gave it to us and they were delicious. Thanks Robi! :)

Points in Casino night were: the first winner had 3 points, the second winner had two points, and the third winner had 1 point. We put points in our folders, and in our team folders. It was very funny. TT-13 won 94 points. Pink Panthers won 105 points, Vampire Kangaroos won 82 points, and Smile Hunters won 75 points. It was great.

Masquerade Disco

In the evening on the 6th of august we had a Disco Night. It was amazing. We had crazy dancers like Venera Alshiqi and others. And the music was great. It was pretty hot. Disco Night in started at half past seven, and it was Masquerade Disco Night, so we had  to make masks. It was good. Who didn't have a mask couldn't go to Masquerade Disco Night. On that evening was Arbenita's birthday. Then we could vote for the best mask. The winners were Flori and Pressian.

ALL-DAY ACTIVITIES

Field trip to Tihany

On the 5th of August campers went on a boat trip on the Balaton lake and they visited Tihany peninsula. Students liked the church and the old houses. After visiting the church they went to a small town and bought some Hungarian presents for friends and family. They walked around the peninsula, took photos and had fun. After the great four hours of fun, they returned to the camp by boat.

Capture the Flag

It's a game with 4 teams: 2 teams are together and we had to put some numbers of our forehead and if the other team can read out the numbers of somebody he or she had to stop and go into the prison which had been assigned before the game started. If could find the other team's flag we had to run around the field and tried to get it to our "base". If sombody reads the number of the flagholder (s)he has to stop and the flag returns to its original place. If the person can run back to the "base" with the emeny's flag his/her team wins! It was a very exciting game we all enjoyed it very much!

Team Olympics

On the 3rd of August we organized the Team Olympics. The four teams (the Grinning Vampire Kangaroos, the Pink Panthers, the Smile Hunters and the Tolerance Team 13) participated in a 3 hour long competition.

They had to complete different challenges. For example there was the relay of walking around with a spoon in their mouth. In the spoon first the campers had to carry a tabletennis ball then an egg.

The water sponges is also a relay where the teams had to carry water from one bucket to another. The only tool for this was a small sponge.

Then the team members had to walk around in pairs with a tennis ball between their foreheads.

The Blanket fold is a game which requires cooperation and strategy. The whole team must stand on the same blanket while they fold it once.

Pluck the chicken is a game where two teams are playing at the same time. One team must stand in a row waiting for the team member who has to run for the ball which was thrown away by one member of the other team. The other team meanwhile must stand in a circle, and while the member of the first team is running for the ball, someone from the second team must run as many laps around its own team as possible.

After collecting  the team points and individual points from the previous game night, the teams had to go on a shopping to prepare for the last challenge.

Beside the points they collected during the game night and the Olympic games, for 25 points every team had the chance to use one thing from their room to protect the egg. The TT13 team used a suitcase.

The last task of the teams was to create an egg shield using all the material that the teams bought in the Egg Protection Shop.

With the ready shields the eggs were thrown out of the window.
