Name: Ms. Emma Gazdag

Introduction:

My name is Emma Gazdag, and I was born on November 9, 1988, in Oromhegyes (Trešnjevac) Former Yugoslavia. I grow up and completed my elementary school studies there in Oromhegyes at Kis Ferenc Elementary School between 1994 and 2003. After finishing my elementary school studies I attended the first only Hungarian language based talent supporter language school, Kosztolányi Dezső Grammar School between 2003 and 2007. During my High school Years I could spend a year and study in the United States of America. I spent the 2005-2006 school year in Rockford, Michigan. During my stay I fell in love with the English language and the American culture and I decided that I will continue my studies on English major. In 2007 I got an admission to Eötvös Loránd Science University.  At the present I’m finishing my third year there majoring in English, and my minor is Art History. I am strongly concerned of different ethnic incidents, and I am interested in teaching tolerance and teaching in general.

My motto is:  "Shoot for the moon.
Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."

Name: Miklós Rácz

Introduction:

Hey there! My name is Miklos Racz. I was born in Mako in 1979. I grew up in a village called Kiszombor, and I attended an economical high school in Szeged where I got a usual and a programmer A-level exam. Then I entered the University of Szeged and was learning there from 2000-2004. My majors were and are English and IT. After my graduation I moved to Hodmezovasarhely and started to teach in a local school. I've been there since then. The speciality of our school - among other things - is teaching foreign languages (mainly English) from the very first school year. There are different kids in our school: different abilities and ethnicities. We have certain customs so we can handle certain situations. I highly believe in tolerance among nations and ethnicities.

I was staying in Ireland in the summers of 2005 and 2006 to gather further experience about education. Besides I worked in an Internet Café there.

I'm a kind of inner supervisor of the school computer system, and one of the editors of the website of our school.

I used to teach in the recognized Gabor Bethlen Secondary School in Hodmezovasarhely for a year. It was a part time job, but I liked to be there very much. I had to leave it because of my full time job.

About my hobbies: I like playing basketball, swimming and playing cards. Not long ago I started to learn playing the guitar, which I enjoy very much, but my knowledge is too low...so far.

One thing I know surely: we'll enjoy ourselves in Balatonlelle together!

See you in the camp!

Name: Attila Balogh

Introduction:

My name is Attila Balogh. I was born in 1986, Nagykanizsa. I was 12 years old when I entered a secondary school in Pécs which is the only secondary school that supports mainly but not exclusively gypsy students in Europe. It is called Gandhi Secondary School after Mahatma Gandhi. I graduated in 2004 and entered the University of Pécs the next year as an English major. I was a third year student in 2007 when I had an opportunity to go back and teach in Gandhi. The former English teacher received a job that she could not reject so I was asked to substitute her until the end of the year. It was such an experience for me that I will live togeteher with for all of my life. I taught gypsy students who were just like me a couple of years ago. I think this was the year when I decided to become an English teacher when I finish my studies (which is next year).

In my free time I play different sports. I play football in an amateur team. I like swimming, table tennis or any sports that require running.

I know we'll have a great time in a month and I'm looking forward to being there already. :)

Name: Mari Varsanyi

Introduction:

I was born in 1985 in Budapest, where I was also brought up. From early on I've been introduced to foreign languages and international environment. I studied in the Austrian-Hungarian Europe School and later continued my education in the German department of Karinthy Frigyes Dual Language High School. However, my attachment to the English language and culture proved stronger, so I ended up at the English faculty of ELTE University, also doing Teacher Training on the side.

Since the age of 16 I've had private students both in English and German, and later, during my years at university I started teaching English at the Shetland UK Language School in Budapest. I felt at home in the teaching environment, but I wanted to do more than teaching linguistic skills alone. This brought me to the field of tolerance and empathy teaching. At present I'm living in the Netherlands, finishing my thesis on Developing Tolerance and Empathy in Secondary School English Lessons, and am about to start working on Hungarian tolerance-promoting projects at the Anne Frank House, Amsterdam.

Besides tolerance education I'm interested in the world of the theatre, dancing (mostly Ballroom and Flamenco), arts and crafts, photography, music, reading good books and languages.

I'm looking forward to a great intercultural experience and a lot of fun at the camp!
